Water Safety Day and Summer Kick-Off! - May 26

Join the City of Fort Myers Recreation Division and SPLASH into summer on Saturday May 26th at the Fort Myers Aquatics Center AND Golfview Pool.

Activities kick off at 10:00 am at the Aquatic Center with live music by @HIGH TIDE, family membership raffles, "give-aways" ...and food straight from the grill. Enjoy free ice cream while supplies last and exciting demonstrations by the Lee County Waterborne Strike Team, Fort Myers Zumba, and Infant Swimming Resource . Get all the information you and your family need to have a fun and safe summer at our water safety stations provided by Fort Myers Fire, Fort Myers Police, Lee Memorial, Swim Florida, and more...

Join us at The Golfview Pool beginning at noon for water safety information, discounted membership prices, beach volleyball, horseshoes, tetherball and a new children's playground.

Admission fee is $3 for adults 18 and up, $2 for children 3 to 17 and $1 for children under 2 years old.

Memorial Day: Tribute America's Heroes - May 27

Event: Tribute to America's Heroes

Join the Fort Myers Recreation Division, the Lee County Chapter of the American Red Cross and American Legion Post 38 on Sunday, May 27th at Centennial Park beginning at 11:00 am for “A Tribute to America’s Heroes”.

The Tribute will feature a performances by noted Gospel recording artist Gayla James, Lee County "Young Artist of the Year" Sam Bostic, Ancelyn Willis and FMPD Officer Yvetta Dominque. Lee County Sheriff’s Office will provide a Rifle Salute and Fly Over, the Fort Myers Police Department will present the Colors, and a Coast Guard will be laying a wreath on the Caloosahatchee River.

The American Red Cross will be accepting items for “Care Packages” for deployed troops such as; Individually wrapped pieces of hard candy (Twizzlers, Tootsie Rolls and Tootsie Roll Pops; Bubble Gum; Skittles; lollipops; Life Savers); Microwave popcorn; Peanuts, pretzels and other snack foods; Travel size Wet wipes; Sunscreen; Lip balm; Foot powder; Kool-Aid and other drink mixes; Toiletry items such as shaving cream, razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and shower soap/gel; Playing cards; Puzzle books.

Concessions will be available. Bring a blanket or lawn chair for seating

Memorial Day 5K Run on the Green - May 28

Join the Fort Myers Recreation Division, for the 5K Memorial Day “Run on the Green” which will be held at Eastwood Golf Course located beside the Calusa Nature Center at 4600 Bruce Herd Lane in Fort Myers just off of Ortiz Blvd. Here’s your opportunity for a one-of-a-kind trip through one of the City’s finest golf courses. The route will take you through the “Back 9” and finish at the Clubhouse.

TIME - Check In 6:30 am - Start 7:30 am
LOCATION - Eastwood Golf Course - 4600 Bruce Herd Lane

ENTRY FEES:

STARS Complex Summer Camp 2012

DATES: Tuesday, May 29^th thru Friday, August 3^rd
TIME: 7 am thru 5 pm - Pick up no later than 6 pm

AGE LIMITS: 6 to 14 years on 1st day of camp

COST: $160.00 per child (Payment in full at time of enrollment encouraged.)

OPTIONAL PAYMENT PLAN: $40 at enrollment, then $20 per week beginning May 29th until total is paid
PAYMENT METHOD: Cash, Check made out to City of Fort Myers, Money Order or Debit/Credit Card

Fort Myers Recreation Division invites you to a FREE MOVIE NIGHT IN THE PARK on Thursday, June 7th.

The second of our series of three movies, stars Kevin James in "Zookeeper".

A group of zoo animals decide to break their code of silence in order to help their lovable zoo keeper find love -- without opting to leave his current job for something more illustrious.

The film will be shown at City of Palms Park at 2201 Broadway in Fort Myers beginning at 8:00 pm. FREE onsite parking is available.

Admission is FREE and all concessions are $1.00.
Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and/or blankets for seating.
